ROW80 – 2024 – Round 1 – Check-in 9 (March, 10th 2024)

Hi everyone!

Note: To keep posts short, I’ve made a Trello board with my goals for the year and beyond. Feel free to check it out if you want to know more about the bigger plan.

My word for the week is CRAFT.

Since the girls spent most of their vacation at home, we either crafted or planned further crafts. And as most of my students were on a break too, it felt like a short vacation for me too, which was nice.

As far as my health is concerned, stopping one medicine and wearing a thumb brace proved enough to start the healing process. A couple more weeks and my thumb should be good as new. ^^

On the work front, things were slow so I took this opportunity to work on my websites. Since the hacking has gone deep, I’ve taken the e-learning platform down for now, which means I will postpone adding online training to my catalog. Since I want to focus on the next audit, I’ll put it back on afterwards, at the end of the year.

The rest is going with the flow. I’ve been a little behind for a while now but since I keep making regular progress, I’ll focus on that rather than trying to catch up.

We’re about halfway with the bunk beds. We’re going to add the ladders today, then start either decorating the inside walls or sewing the covers and pillows.

  • Online

I'll fix issues ASAP and resume sharing content.

  • Quality

I'll keep up-to-date with my field's evolution and make necessary adjustments.

  • Japanese

I'll make lessons for Genki na Nihongo, hopefully up to chapter 4.

  • Cleaning

I'll keep cleaning, organizing and decluttering as preparation for future renovation and improvement. For this round, I'd like everything to be in the right room at least.

  • Barbie House

Along with the sorting effort, I'll put everything we can use in the new workshop. And since it also has to be fun, we'll start making small pieces of furniture. And I'll take some photos to journal all this.

  • Saving

I'll try and save for future renovation work.

  • Bathroom

I will prepare a work area so as to be ready to finish those walls in June. (But maybe that can wait until April or May, so Round 2 ^^)

Personal

  • Studies

I'll start the Japanese Academic Writing course.

  • Reading

I'll focus on primary resources for my research and academic articles both for my research and courses.

  • Well-being

I'll meditate at least once a day and I'll practice mindfulness and gratitude in general. I'll rest when I need to and spend quality time with my loved ones.

Yearly goals

The girls were here during the day because their dad worked and was on waiting list for day camp (they did get a spot last minute but since I had made arrangements and they wanted to stay with me, it was a sort of semi-vacation for me too ^^).

So we kept working on crafts and decluttering. Though at first the girls were not thrilled about cleaning, some lost toys were found again and that helped. 😀

What’s more, what’s currently the storage room will be used partly as a playroom once I’m done with the floor, so it’s a nice motivator (they have so many toys we decided the Barbie-style dolls would be in their room but the imitation games would go upstairs, so I’m sure they can’t wait until they can play with their kitchen and baby dolls again).

Other than that, I rearranged a few things on the yearly planner to fit my new organization. And that also included some time off and time with loved ones. =D

How about you? What is your word for this week and why? Let me know in the comments. Take care!
