ROW80 – 2024 – Round 1 – Check-in 6 (February, 18th 2024)
Hi everyone!
Note: To keep posts short, I’ve made a Trello board with my goals for the year and beyond. Feel free to check it out if you want to know more about the bigger plan.
My word for the week is PEACE.
At some point this week, I had a sort of epiphany when I realized I felt overall quite well as far as my family situation is concerned. Of course, I still wish my kids could be with me all the time instead of every other week but it’s become OK, probably because there’s not much I want. And that’s because I’m actually happy with how things are right now, which has given me tremendous joy and energy.
It’s been so long since I felt this way, I’m enjoying every minute. ^u^
I’ve even been thinking about some plots, but since I have my research project going on, that’s as far as it will go for now.
The research itself is also quite exciting, so it’s actually quite a pleasure doing it. Somehow and as weird as it may seem, I think that studying has become a hobby to me.
And now I’m content with my new lifestyle, I find that I’m more willing to fit in things I had left aside for a while like yoga. My struggle was mostly connected to the lack of a constant routine, but that doesn’t bother me so much now. I figured I could just do more yoga when the girls are at their dad’s, and quite frankly I can also work out after walking them to school since I usually don’t start work for another hour or so. But the key, I think, is that I want to do yoga again. ^^
The other effect of the renewed energy is that I’ve been more efficient in terms of decluttering. The girls and I sorted their many drawings and paintings, and though many ended up going, I must confess I still have 2 big boxes of them stored away until we can decide which ones will decorate the spare room once I’m done with its wooden floor and we turn it into a playroom(/workshop for our crafts).
So quite a positive week, and I’m hoping it’s an indication of how the whole year will go, and hopefully, most of my weeks from now on.
By the end of January
By the end of February
By the end of March
Round Goals
We made small benches using only things we had at home, so they’re a bit small for Barbie dolls, but since there other, smaller dolls too, it’s fine for now. I ended up ordering some jumbo popsicle sticks, so at some point, we can make some bigger ones anyway.
The chairs and tables are quite a success too though we need some minor repairs regularly (turns out actual Barbie furniture is actually pretty sturdy! Toy makers know their target audience well, aha…)
