ROW80,  Writer's life

ROW80 – 2024 – Round 1 – Check-in 4 (February, 4th 2024)

Hi everyone!

Note: To keep posts short, I’ve made a Trello board with my goals for the year and beyond. Feel free to check it out if you want to know more about the bigger plan.

My word for the week is DRAINED.

I don’t know whether it’s just mental exhaustion or if my health should concern me (it does, incidentally, but there’s not more I can do until I see some doctors), but I’ve been finding it hard to have energy lately.

I usually just manage to get things done when it’s necessary, but I feel hazy about it. Like I’ve lost my drive. I hope this doesn’t last too long.

There were also some other bumps along the way, including a pair of brand new glasses broken in the schoolyard, but thankfully that did not require too much of my time and attention because they were still covered by the warranty and my kid wasn’t hurt too badly.

In the end, it might just be fatigue speaking but I can’t seem to shake off the feeling that I should take things slow while also enjoying life to its fullest (i.e. focusing on what really matters to me, which is my family of course).

And when I can’t, I mostly do low-key activities like studying, working on easy stuff like slides or just relaxing.

Round Goals

As it’s part of spending quality time with my daughters, the craft project is going rather well. There were some unexpected issues with the glueing process so we’re a little behind schedule but the girls are really happy with the one chair and 2 tables we did complete.

It’s nowhere as good as the ones from the tutorials but since we’re new to crafting and they do work with the dolls, we’re all very happy with the amateurish look. 😀

Other than that, I’m making fast progress on my Play Time slides and I might even be done with them all this month, while I expected to make only one ppt per lesson every month. Since it’s been quite easy to make after the template was done, I’m focusing on it to make time for other projects once I’m done.

Work

  • Online

I'll fix issues ASAP and resume sharing content.

  • Quality

I'll keep up-to-date with my field's evolution and make necessary adjustments.

  • Japanese

I'll make lessons for Genki na Nihongo, hopefully up to chapter 4.

Home

  • Cleaning

I'll keep cleaning, organizing and decluttering as preparation for future renovation and improvement. For this round, I'd like everything to be in the right room at least.

  • Barbie House

Along with the sorting effort, I'll put everything we can use in the new workshop. And since it also has to be fun, we'll start making small pieces of furniture. And I'll take some photos to journal all this.

  • Saving

I'll try and save for future renovation work.

  • Bathroom

I will prepare a work area so as to be ready to finish those walls in June. (But maybe that can wait until April or May, so Round 2 ^^)

Personal

  • Studies

I'll start the Japanese Academic Writing course.

  • Reading

I'll focus on primary resources for my research and academic articles both for my research and courses.

  • Well-being

I'll meditate at least once a day and I'll practice mindfulness and gratitude in general. I'll rest when I need to and spend quality time with my loved ones.

Yearly goals

The craft column is officially full. ^^;

And I’ve also been seriously planning a trip with the girls in May.

Other than that, I think I’ll meet my yearly goals with Play Time this month, as I mentioned earlier, which will mean one less thing in my checklist.

How about you? What is your word for this week and why? Let me know in the comments. Take care!
