ROW80,  Writer's life

ROW80 – 2022 – Round 2 – Check-in 12 & Wrap-up (June, 26th 2022)

Hi everyone!

Note: To keep posts short, I’ve made a Trello board with my goals for the year. Feel free to check it out if you want to know more about the bigger plan.

My word for the week is HICCUPS.

I realize I’ve been spending so much of my work time on unpaid administrative stuff that it’s taken its tow. The realization came when yet another hiccup generated more stress, work and potentially more expenses. It feels like I’ve been doing so much paperwork just to be able to work that it’s overwhelming sometimes.

I wouldn’t mind so much if it didn’t contaminate my personal life somehow, especially financially. Really, France is not making it easy on entrepreneurs!

Another work hiccup, though far less serious, was that I assumed Workbook 3 of the Bat and Friends series would be just another compilation of existing worksheets (which I’m pretty sure I had ready) but it turns out that I’ve lost some and my current backup only allows me to get some 35% of the workbook ready. For most of the month, I’ve been postponing dealing with this, thinking I might get back to making these worksheets once most of my monthly goals were done, but in the end, I really don’t want to do that right now. Since I won’t be using that specific workbook any time soon, I’ve decided to keep working on Story Time projects that feel closer to home and postpone completing that final workbook. Hopefully, I can revisit in September while I get started on the Teacher’s Book.

All that being said, I can’t believe there are only four days left in June! Where did this month go?

Anyway, I’ll wrap-up for the month next week (so that maybe I can meet my writing goal too!), but I’ll be wrapping up for Round 2 (below) and setting goals for July today.

And the good thing is I managed to get ahead on July’s goals somehow, even meeting one without even trying, so between this and working less over the summer, I think things should settle OK. ^^

Round Wrap-up

Writing did not go as planned but at least I’m writing regularly again so I’ll take this as a win.

Translations are on time, so big PASS there.

I gave up the special Pride Month discount because I had too much on my plate then.

On the work front, except for the hiccup I mentioned earlier with the workbooks, things have been going smoothly.

Renovation is always the same: so much we want to do and so little time to do it, so I’m just glad the kitchen is on its way.

On the personal level, finally, studies were harder than I had anticipated but I did pass the semester with flying colors in the end so it was worth the extra push. I’m in the middle of intermittent fasting and for now it’s looking good. Yoga is not daily but almost daily so I’m fine with that and I’ll aim for 5 times a week now as having some leeway does help in the end. And reading is also going well, especially considering all the research reading I had to do for classes.

So overall, the round went well, yay!

      I also realized it was the end of the round while getting ready to check in. ^^;
But neither of us take breaks from ROW80 goals, so this sin’t so surprising. ^^

Hmm? I haven’t had a word for the day or for the week for quite some time. I suppose that for this week, though, the word would have to be painting, as Hubby and I are painting our kitchen/dining room. Yikes! I am so sore this morning from doing the second coat on the ceiling and the first coat on the walls yesterday. One more coat on the walls today and we should be done! And then, it’s back to working on my novel!

Hope you continue with forward progress and no more hiccups.

    • ruichan

Oh painting! I bet you feel sore after all this! I haven’t had to paint for a while but every time hurts… I hope you get things done sonner than later to get back to writing.

      Take care, Chris!
