ROW80 – 2021 – Round 1 – Check-in 3 (January, 24th)
Hi everyone!
Note: To keep these post short, I’ve made a Trello board with my goals for the year. Feel free to check it out if you want to know more about the bigger plan.
My word for this week is ADJUSTING because we had to do so for many things.
Mostly, we need to wait till February for our contractor to come because he suffered a major delay on his current site. So the family room is on hold and there will be no more progress there this month.
But I also had to adjust my fasting pace several time to find one that actually works for me.
The app recommended started with 14-10 (that 14 hours of fasting and a 10-hour window for eating) but my research indicated that 16-8 was the ideal ratio, so that’s what I tried to do. I ended up doing 17-7 most days so it was not too challenging, but in fact, the eating window was too long and I was tempted to squeeze in a snack before fasting to be sure I’d hold.
My chiropractor then told me that for women within my demographic, the best option was 18-6, which I had not tried because I thought it might be too much of a strain for a beginner like myself. Having done 17-7 80% of the time I felt more confident I could do it and I actually find it easier.
I have breakfast between 7 and 8 AM, then lunch before 1 or 2 PM, and that’s it. Strangely enough, psychologically, I deal better because there’s no dilemma: 2 solid meals and that’s it. No snacking, lots of water and I don’t have to think about it. Skipping dinner even means more time to work on other things, including my goals (and I have Hubby to thank for that too, as he takes care of the girls’ dinner while I get used to fasting to avoid making it too hard on me ^^). I did grant myself one dinner on Saturday, to spend time together with Hubby and the kids, since skipping one day a week is OK and I was hungry.
I also had to adjust my schedule a couple of times this week, and shifted some goals accordingly. I still prefer when things go according to plan, but I’m getting better with variations somehow. I think meditation helps in that regard.
