ROW80 – 2021 – Round 1 – Check-in 2 (January, 17th)

Hi everyone!

Note: To keep these post short, I’ve made a Trello board with my goals for the year. Feel free to check it out if you want to know more about the big plan.

My word for this week is FASTING because I started intermittent fasting on Wednesday.

I’m not good at stopping eating this or that, and I prefer working out, but since that is not easy right now and I do want/need to lose most of the weight I gained from comfort eating during my depression some time ago, this seems like a good compromise, especially as I often notice I eat dinner out of habit rather than actual hunger.

I’m using the app Fastic to help, and I like how it tell me about the way the body works. I also love the visuals that make it clear and somehow easier.

I’m not using the paid plans for now, just trying out the free version, but I did take the questionnaire and apparently, even if I choose the easy way, I could lose those 30 kilos within a year or so. (I’m being realistic here, no way I can lose all 40 kilos, but I’d be happy with even 20 to be honest ^^).

Anyway, I won’t risk my health and I do enjoy good food, so I like the fact we can just skip a day or 2 sometimes without the lapse impacting the loss weight.

Right now, I’m just getting used to fasting and trying to find the best pace for me. I’m hoping to go back to daily exercise in the morning next week, maybe even tomorrow. Just yoga for now, I’ll drop my original plan of including fitness again, I don’t feel ready for that.

I didn’t know fasting was supposed to have so many advantages, but apparently it also helps sleep better and feel energized too. I didn’t think effects would show immediately, but they did, so big yay!

As a result, I was quite efficient this week, and most importantly I finally resumed making my online course!

The only thing is I realized I had one forgotten an important goal as far as work is concerned, and kept a less important one instead, so I’ll leave Japanese for kids aside for now and focus on Cambridge English ppt lessons for classes I actually will teach soon.

Other than that, the schedule is tight when there’s a lot to do in the house, but overall manageable.

I used to fast once in a while, more for religious reasons than for health. But I have been thinking that I should try it for my health. I was doing so good with my weight, but packed on quite a bit over the holidays. Hubby expected me to bake just as many goodies as other years, but we didn’t have anyone over to eat them and we didn’t go anywhere to spread them around. So the cookies and candies just sat on my kitchen table, saying “eat me, eat me”. So what else could I do, but comply? Anyway, so I need to do something at this point.

Looking forward to updates on your fasting journey. Have a great week.

I used to do the 40-hour famine in high school. They changed it to 30 hours after because they didn’t like teens fasting for so long. Good luck with it.

My word of the week is “patience” because I’m waiting on my condo management company to fix a wall in my bathroom and have been for awhile now. It was supposed to be yesterday, but didn’t happen.

You do need patience when it comes to renovation and construction… I hope you heard from the management company since you posted here.

As for fasting, I don’t think teenage is an appropriate time for it, so I would have agreed with making it shorter, or even cancelling it altogether. After all, you need much more energy when you grow up.
