ROW80 – 2022 – Round 4 – Check-in 12 & Wrap-up (December, 25th 2022)
Hi everyone and merry Christmas!
Note: To keep posts short, I’ve made a Trello board with my goals for the year. Feel free to check it out if you want to know more about the bigger plan.
My word for the week is FED UP.
I’ve had enough of 2022 kicking me again and again.
Of course, I’ve managed to find some upsides because that’s who I am, but I could do with less crises to manage.
After last weekend and the fire, I ended up spending the night at my mom’s with the girls because the roads were too dangerous. Which meant taking one exam there too, with my phone to get online. Thankfully I had my Macbook too, so it was not too bad, but I did get disconnected from Zoom a couple of times. Also, as it was an open-book test, I felt it was OK that I didn’t have as much time as I had anticipated to review the grammar and vocabulary. But of course my notes were at home and I had to rely on sheer memory. Thankfully that proved enough and I passed.
But then, after dropping the girls at camp, I had a minor crash with the rental car. Nothing too important, just a bumper to replace because of a tiny wall I could not see in the rearview mirror, but we’ll need to pay upfront and wait for insurance to reimburse what they cover apparently.
So after that, it was hard to stay optimistic, obviously, and I had one sad evening, crying about how my life had turned this year. Well, mostly, the failure of my marriage has been on my mind, of course, but the accumulation of bad luck is just too much sometimes.
On the plus side, my mother has given her notice and will definitely be moving in with us in March, so at least 2023 should look better.
I’ll wrap up for December and the year next week as I don’t take a break from my goals (though I’ll be going easy next week). But since the ROWnd is over, my roundly wrap-up is below.
December Goals
Round Wrap-up
All things considered, I did pretty well. I had to drop a few goals on the way but managing to stay afloat was a big win.
I’m thinking if I was able to still do much these past rounds, I can get through much more when things settle.
So here’s to hope and optimism. Things can be hard, but I’m resilient and now I know it for sure!

Considering everything else going on, this is great progress. And I’m glad the accident isn’t any worse

You had one heck of a year. Thing is, you made it… you survived. You are resilient. (and really, you rocked those goals)
